About Me.

My name is Emma Louise Reid and I'm the founder of Night Duck Productions. I'm an Emmy Award-winning documentary and digital media film producer and videographer with a strong focus in environmental and social justice issues. I specialize in creating digital media and documentary style content from the initial development phase to post-production editing. 

I have created original productions for PBS, WYES, LSU Ag Center, Louisiana SeaGrant, National Academy of Science and Engineering (NASEM), CPRA, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Medela, Loyola University New Orleans and more!

Experience

Digital Media Producer, Louisiana Public Broadcasting — 2020-Present

    ❖ Produces, films and edits original content for LPB’s YouTube and social media pages. 

    ❖ Manages budget, scripts, production schedule and crew for digital projects.

    ❖ Programs include Suncoast Emmy Award-winning series, Safe Haven: Louisiana’s Green Book, Webby Award-winning PBS series Ritual, the children’s YouTube series Ziggy’s Arts Adventure,  PBS for the Arts Digital Program, Louisiana Harvest of the Month for the Louisiana Ag Center, One to Grow On.

Director and videographer, Isle of Memories - NASEM  — 2023

    ❖ A short film about the value of collecting oral history for the Isle de Jean Charles Native tribe as their land is disappearing. 

    ❖ Worked closely with the National Academy of Science and Engineering to match academic standards

 

Independent filmmaker, In The Blind - Louisiana Public Broadcasting — 2018-2020

   ❖ An hour-long documentary about the role duck hunters play in the conservation movement. This film in now a part of LSU’s Wildlife Ecology Program curriculum. 

    ❖ Reid fundraised, wrote, produced, filmed and narrated this film. 

    ❖ Awarded LWF’s Conservation Communicator of the Year and a Louisiana Association of Broadcasters award for Best Louisiana Feature in 2020. 

Producer - Finding Common Ground - e/prime media — 2017

    ❖ Telly Award-winning feature length documentary about coastal restoration and Traditional Ecological Knowledge in Louisiana.

    ❖ Duties entailed research, conducting interviews, writing and editing.

Producer - The Southern Naturalist Podcast - Loyola University New Orleans — 2023

    ❖ Recorded and edited 10 podcast episodes consisting of original content and interviews in the studio and out in nature about the biology of Louisiana nature

    ❖ Created a website and social media campaign for series.

Director, videographer, editor- Breastfeeding Uncovered - Medela - 2019

      ❖ A three-part digital series about the complexities of breastfeeding and mothering in the United States for a major breast pump company. Subjects included women in opioid recovery, prisons and living on Native American reservations.
